Organised by Africa Business Pages jointly with Automechanika Dubai, the Africa Buyer Seller Meet was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre at the Sheikh Rashid Hall to promote trade to and from Africa through this special B2B networking event.

Attended by African buyers from various African countries like Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique, Zambia, Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Sudan, Tanzania and Cote d’Ivoire, the Africa Buyer Seller Meet brought buyers and sellers face-to-face to discuss business and exchange ideas and gather market information in bid to promote direct B2B contacts between buyers and sellers from the automotive industry.

“An event like this is a perfect platform for conducting business in the African markets as it enbles us to know more about the needs and requirements of importers in Africa,” said Mrs. Sunanda Rajendran, Secretary General of the Indo-African Chamber of Commerce & Industries.

Her sentiment was echoed by other participants too. “The Africa Buyer Seller Meet was well conducted and well organised – and all of us got to introduce ourselves to our business counterparts,” said Mrs. Pilloo C. Aga, Director of Gold Seal Eng. Products Pvt. Ltd. “I thank the organisers for providing us this opportunity on behalf of ACMA India and GoldSeal-Saar Gummi India Pvt. Ltd.,” she added.

The meet got underway with a couple of presentations which provided an overview of the African automotive market as well as tips on export procedures. The B2B session included initial introductions – providing buyers and seller a chance to introduce themselves and provide a brief background about their companies and products. This was followed by a question-and-answer session conducted by CEO and Founder of the Africa Business Pages, Naved Hasan. During this session, African buyers were asked to enumerate their requirements and also talk about trends and demands of the market back home in their respective countries.

“This event was very helpful in identifying potential business partners and investors for the booming market in Nigeria,” said Deputy Director of Nigeria’s National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Chika Nowkoye, a veteran in the automotive industry in Nigeria. “I thank the organisers for bringing together such an august gathering of automotive professionals. I look forward to attending more such events in the future,” he said.

Addressing the gathering, Micheal Dehn, Group Exhibition Director at Messe Frankfurt GmbH, thanked Africa Business Pages for their continued co-operation and welcomed the buyers from Africa – some of whom had flown in from Africa specially for the event. “Africa is an important market for the automotive aftermarket industry and we have noticed a substantial increase in the number of African visitors to Automechanika Dubai in recent years,” he said.

“We plan to make the Africa Buyer Seller Meet an even bigger event in the coming months. The event is primarily held to help connect global suppliers interact with their business counterparts in Africa,” said Naved Hasan, CEO and founder of Africa Business Pages, the organisers of the Africa Buyer Seller Meet.
