Effective 30th March 2017 Govt. of Nigeria (Standard Organization of Nigeria – SON & Central Bank) has implemented a new procedure for certifying products (Product Certificate) of Life Endangering Products.

Below products/HS Codes can be certified Product Certificate (PC) only through Route A (PC-U/Unregistered) or Route C (PC-L/License).

Please note that existing PC-R (Route B) which are valid would be accepted for issuance of SONCAP certificates. However we urge you to inform your suppliers to apply for PC-L or PC-U during the renewal of existing PC-R’s.

NEW RULES

Product Certificate – Unregistered (Route A) each shipment has to be inspected (witness stuffing & sealing of FCL Containers) & PC-U is valid for 6 months.

Product Certificate – License (Route C) is issued only to Manufacturers & PC-L is valid for 1 year. Under PCL we have to inspect atleast 1 shipment every six months.

If you or your supplier would like to issue a PC-U or PC-L please get in touch with any pre-shipment certification agency.
